Many of the clubs in Los Angeles are well known to celebrities and it's possible to spot a star or two. Every genre of music is represented here including rock venues and jazz clubs. There is also a lot of hip-hop on the scene and many hip-hop artists are associated with the city. Club nights at various venues play every type of music and the atmosphere is laid back. Some venues have restaurants in addition to bars.

The Cabana is on Ivar Avenue in Hollywood and the theme for the décor is paradise. There is a large pool, trees and waterfalls in 'Paradise City' and an outdoor patio. There is also a stage for live performance. DJs play on Thursday nights and the choice is glam rock, hip-hop, alternative rock and R&B. Friday nights at this club in Los Angeles are for indulgence with champagne and strawberries.

The Montmartre Lounge / Day After Nightclub on Hollywood Boulevard is an old venue, dating back to the 1920s when stars of the silver screen were the clientele. The present club opened in 2004 and there has been a full renovation. There are three bars, multiple dance floors, a lounge area and an outdoor candlelit lounge. The popular rock band, The Killers, performed at the opening night for the new club. There is a VIP area for visiting celebrities and the dress code is casual at this club in Los Angeles.

Vine Street is the location for Forbidden City, a venue for dancing, relaxing and eating. There is a large, main dining area, which converts to a dance floor when required. The largest bar is found in the Lounge, which also contains large plasma TV sets and eight booths. An upstairs VIP area has a retractable roof, a bar and stage and can accommodate small parties. If things get a bit too hot, clubbers retreat to an outdoor patio. The club night on Fridays is one of the best of the clubs in Los Angeles, especially for fans of 1980s chart music. The DJ spins the records and there are special deals on bar drinks and Chinese food.

Dragonfly is another popular nightspot and is located on Santa Monica Boulevard. The dance floor reverberates to different kinds of music on nights devoted to rock, reggae or glam. In addition to the club nights, there is also live music performed. As with many of the clubs in Los Angeles, there is an outdoor patio to relax on for a quiet break.
