Nick of Time by Ted Bell Amazon Price: $12.21 Customer Review: I can't give a review of the book because I bought it for my grandson who is nine. What I can do is tell you that he loved the book.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie Amazon Price: $11.16 Customer Review: This awesome book was the beginning of my Agatha Christie and mystery addiction. I've read most of her books, and it's still my favorite! She had me questioning every character the whole time! Ever...
Raven Black: Book One of the Shetland Island Quartet by Ann Cleeves Amazon Price: $11.16 Customer Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book, mostly for the character depictions, and descriptions of Shetland Island living. The murder itself was unexpected for such a small place. A young life was snuffed out f...
White Nights: A Thriller (Shetland Island Quartet) by Ann Cleeves Amazon Price: $16.47 Customer Review: "White Nights" is the second in what the author calls her "Shetland Island Quartet" and that is a grand thing. St Martin Island
St Martin Island
My wife and I agree on most things, but we definitely had very
different opinions about our island vacation. We decided to go to St
Martin Island. You see, one of my colleagues had a
timeshare there, and
he let us use it free of charge. I had always wanted to go on an island
vacation – who doesn't – so we planned it on the
spur of the moment.
When we got to St
Martin Island, we were a little bit surprised. I
guess I should have thought about it ahead of time, but I had no idea
that the island would be so built up and overdeveloped. It was
completely crowded from shore to shore. There was almost no empty
space. Don't get me wrong – there still were beautiful
beaches on St. Martin Island. It is actually famous for its beaches, as
well as its hotel resorts. There was little serenity, however, as every
place we went was completely crowded with other visitors.
I tried to make the best of it, but my wife was less than happy with
the way the vacation was turning out. We have very different attitudes
towards groups of people. I love being in the middle of things, while
she loves serenity. Being able to hang out on the beaches of St Martin
Island while still having the opportunities to go to nightclubs,
shopping boutiques, and other tourist destinations is my idea of
paradise. She would have preferred to see fewer crowds.
Still, once we got used to the crowds of people, she ended up coming
around my side. We actually had a wonderful vacation there. The weather
was perfect the whole time we were there, and there was plenty of
opportunity for snorkeling, beach combing, and sunbathing. We even got
to go on a St
Martin Island cruise on the last day we were
there. To top it all off, the time share was in a perfect location. It
was overlooking the ocean, facing directly east. This meant that we got
to watch the sunrise from our own private balcony every single morning!
The St Martin car rental place gave us a little bit of trouble. Our car
broke down on the second day we were there. Nonetheless, we did not let
it ruin the trip for us. All in all, it was a nearly perfect vacation.
Next year, we are going to try another tropical island vacation. I am
sure it will be even better!
